We defined a procedure to preserve evidence: mark the exact interval, export the clip with a verifiable player , record the chain of custody, and, if appropriate, make it available to the authority or insurer within minutes.
Visible or hidden cameras: which is better?
Visible cameras are a better deterrent . Hidden cameras are reserved for justified cases and within the law. We advise you on choosing the appropriate option based on the environment, risk, and regulations.
What does AI video analytics offer compared to traditional motion detection?
AI identifies relevant events (intrusion, loitering, line crossing, abandoned objects) and reduces false alarms due to shadows, rain, or animals, helping you respond sooner and more accurately.

WiFi or wired (PoE) cameras?
WiFi : Fast and flexible installation; depends on the network and proper hardening. PoE : Maximum stability and reduced maintenance. Recommendation : Hybrid solutions (PoE where continuity is important and WiFi where agility is desired).
What types of cameras are suitable for each area?
- Indoor/retail: 4–8 MP dome with WDR for backlighting.
- Warehouses/aisles: bullet or turret with IR and varifocal optics.
- Outdoor/perimeter: IP66/IK10, IR/Color Vu; in large areas, PTZ.
- Harsh environments: Reinforced housings; if applicable, anti-corrosion or ATEX certified.
What quality/resolution do I really need?
For a general view , 2 MP–4 MP performs very well; for fine identification or wide areas with digital zoom , 6–8 MP (4K). Just as important as the pixels are the WDR , IR, and well-calibrated exposure .
Can I safely view the cameras from my mobile phone?
Yes. We enable encrypted remote access, 2FA , and user profiles. You’ll be able to view live and recorded content, receive alerts, and track access from the app or browser.
Legal compliance and confidentiality
Where can I install cameras and where is it prohibited?
Allowed: entrances, common areas, warehouses, perimeters. Prohibited : bathrooms, changing rooms, and rest areas. We’ll help you establish signage and configure privacy masking where appropriate.
How long are recordings kept?
As a general rule in Spain, up to 30 days , except for retention per incident. We configure retention and automatic deletion in accordance with regulations.
Is it legal to record audio?
As a general rule, this is not recommended . It increases the impact on privacy and may require additional legal grounds. We disable it by default, and if necessary, we’ll advise you on signage and limitations.
How do we ensure confidentiality and access to recordings?
Access for authorized personnel only via roles , strong passwords, 2FA , and access logging . Controlled exports and documented retention policies.
What internal policies should I communicate to employees?
System purpose, monitored areas, retention period, who accesses the images, and how to exercise rights. We provide signage and templates for clear communication that complies with GDPR/LOPDGDD.
Integration, cybersecurity and maintenance
How to integrate video surveillance with access control and remote alerts?
We integrate cameras with access control , intrusion detection , and sensors. Each event generates an associated video (see who, when, and where) and useful notifications for immediate action.
Local (NVR), cloud, or hybrid recording?
NVR : very competitive control and cost per TB.
Cloud : Off-site backup and resilience if the NVR is stolen.
The usual: hybrid architecture (local primary retention + critical clips in the cloud).
How do we protect the system from cyberattacks?
We apply hardening by default: changing credentials, closing ports, updating firmware , VLAN/PoE segmentation, encryption, 2FA, and the principle of least privilege . No default passwords or insecure P2P access.
What maintenance does a video surveillance system need?
- Preventive: optical cleaning, IR inspection and export testing.
- System Health: Disks, PoE, CPU/Storage Usage.
- Software: updates and alert monitoring.
What does a turnkey project with SUMTEC include?
